Among the detained protesters: Oscar winner Susan Sarandon and well-known actress Hannah Einbinder. The two participated in a protest by the organization "Jewish Voice for Peace," during which signs were held calling to stop arming Israel. The New York Police Department stated that the protest was not coordinated in advance and that participants blocked a major intersection. After they did not heed warnings to disperse, several were arrested. Sarandon is known for her anti-Israeli positions, and Einbinder has previously expressed support for similar views. Alongside the actresses, local politicians were also arrested.
