Take my hand but you didn't pay: Rothblit sues Mimun Yashir for NIS 300,000

Ya'akov Rothblit is suing Mimun Yashir for NIS 300,000, alleging the company used a line from his song 'Take My Hand in Yours' without permission in a loan advertisement. The lawsuit was filed in the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court.

Lyricist Ya'akov Rothblit has filed a lawsuit for NIS 300,000 against Mimun Yashir, claiming the company used a line from his song 'Take My Hand in Yours' without authorization in a loan advertisement featuring comedian Ben Ben Baruch. The lawsuit, filed through attorney Amit Horowitz, refers to a video posted on social media in which Ben Ben Baruch sings the phrase associated with the song. Rothblit alleges infringement of economic copyright, violation of his moral rights, and failure to provide credit. According to him, even copying one sentence that constitutes a substantial and identifiable part of the work may constitute infringement. The lawsuit claims that attaching a sensitive love song to a loan advertisement harms the spirit of the work. Rothblit sent a warning letter in August, and he claims the company did not respond in writing. The lawsuit relies on the possibility of awarding compensation of up to NIS 100,000 for each infringement without proof of damage. The article also mentions a previous lawsuit by Rothblit from 2005 regarding more extensive use of the same song, in which he was awarded NIS 80,000.
