Abuhais to "Filastin": The occupation turns "holidays" into an extended season for intensifying aggression against Al-Aqsa

Jerusalem affairs specialist and researcher Ziad Abuhais, in an interview with the newspaper "Filastin", warned of the dangers of escalating violations by the Israeli occupation and its settlers against Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially during what he described as the "long aggression season" accompanying the Jewish holidays. This season begins on September 12, 2026, with the Hebrew New Year, extends through the "Ten Days of Repentance" to "Yom Kippur" on September 21, then "Sukkot" from September 25 to October 2, and "Simchat Torah" on October 3. Abuhais explained that settlers from "Temple organizations" use this season as an opportunity to escalate their call for imposing a "Jewish identity" on Al-Aqsa, through simultaneous tracks including imposing new Talmudic rituals, expanding incursion times which currently reach six and a half hours daily from Sunday to Thursday, establishing prayer outposts, and promoting the "Red Heifer" project. He noted that the occupation police began an experiment on August 16, 2026, to introduce the "Siddur" prayer book and allowed its distribution to only 15 settlers. Additionally, "Temple" organizations submitted a petition on September 10, 2026, to the occupation's "High Court" demanding permission for incursions on Saturdays. Abuhais warned of the establishment of a new outpost for performing Talmudic rituals outside the Gate of Mercy, where its first collective prayers were held on August 27 of last year.
