A storm erupted in the Finance Committee: MK Moshe Gafni threatened Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a heated debate over an attempt to delay tax benefits for some 900 associations. Gafni said that if the proposal is approved against the ultra-Orthodox position, he will recommend in his faction to act according to the Attorney General's intention "to sever us" from Netanyahu. The threat comes in response to the halt of tax benefits for yeshivas. Among the associations awaiting approval are also those for integrating ultra-Orthodox into the IDF and associations commemorating fallen soldiers. The benefits have been stuck in the Finance Committee for nearly six months. The coalition is now trying to cooperate with the opposition to pass the approvals despite the ultra-Orthodox opposition.
