Jewish-American actress and author Selma Blair revealed at a New York event the heavy price she paid after expressing support for Israel during the war. About two years ago, during the fighting against Hamas, Blair attacked Democratic congresswomen Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib on social media for voting against legislation aimed at preventing those involved in the October 7 massacre from entering the United States. In response to a post, she wrote: 'Expel all these bullies who support terror. Islam has destroyed Muslim countries and then they come here.' Following the uproar, she apologized, but said the damage was already done. In her speech, she described: 'The brands I worked with disappeared within a day. Several partnerships I spent years building were frozen. My agency disappeared. My lawyer disappeared. My publicist disappeared. My book agent disappeared. My book's publicist disappeared. My social media manager disappeared. No one came back to me.' Blair also said her son had to watch her experience fear after already going through chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant with her. She later backed singer Pink, after actor Javier Bardem started a petition to remove her as a UNICEF ambassador due to her support for Israel. Blair concluded with a call: 'Antisemitism must stop. It doesn't need to be managed, explained, or weighed against something else. It just needs to stop.'
