Second mass stabbing attack carried out, filmed in Poland in 'grim copycat phenomenon'

A 15-year-old former pupil killed a caretaker and injured two teachers at a primary school in Leszczydol-Nowiny, Poland, on Thursday, wearing a helmet-mounted camera. This follows a Wednesday stabbing at a school in Ostroleka where a 19-year-old wounded 10. PM Donald Tusk called it a 'grim copycat phenomenon' and ordered daily police visits to schools.

A 15-year-old former pupil killed a caretaker and wounded two teachers at the John-Paul II primary school in Leszczydol-Nowiny, northeast of Warsaw, on Thursday morning. The attacker wore a helmet-mounted camera, which PM Donald Tusk noted was unprecedented in Polish school violence. The attack occurred a day after a 19-year-old wounded 10 people at a vocational school in Ostroleka. Police also detained a 17-year-old in Sierpc on suspicion of planning an attack. Tusk praised two teachers who restrained the attacker, sustaining injuries. Head teacher Krzysztof Ochmanski said he was wounded by the blade but managed to subdue the suspect. Police are investigating whether the incidents are linked to an internet challenge. Interior minister Marcin Kierwinski said the 17-year-old had searched online for how to orchestrate a violent event and was found with two knives. Inspector Katarzyna Nowak noted that serious offenders are becoming younger across Europe. Tusk ordered daily police visits to schools to prevent further violence.
