Mahra Al Nahyan, connected to the royal family of the United Arab Emirates, was found unconscious on a London street alongside another man, while a three-year-old child in her care wandered barefoot near a busy road. The incident occurred on June 13, according to reports in The Times and the Evening Standard. Passersby noticed her slumped on a metal fence, called the police, and attended to the child, who ran toward the road chasing a piece of paper. Al Nahyan remained unresponsive for about half an hour even after officers arrived; when she woke up she shouted: "This is not a slaughterhouse, why do you care so much?" Items related to drug use were found in her bag. In court it emerged she had used cocaine in the days before the incident. Her lawyer argued that on the day of the incident she had not taken drugs and was exhausted. Since July she has been treated at a rehabilitation center. The court imposed a two-year community order including rehabilitation, and a fine and costs totaling £6,114. She admitted to child neglect.
