Report: Netanyahu discussed with Trump attacking Iran ahead of Israeli elections

Israel's Channel 12 revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held talks with US President Donald Trump about resuming a wide-scale military attack against Iran before the Knesset elections scheduled for October 27. US officials concluded that Netanyahu seeks to carry out the attacks before the vote, while Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi warned that the elections could be postponed due to a possible Iranian response.

Israel's Channel 12 revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held several talks with US President Donald Trump over the past two weeks about resuming wide-scale military operations against Iran, indicating that US officials concluded that Netanyahu wants to carry out the attacks before the elections scheduled for October 27. The channel quoted a US official as saying that Netanyahu discussed the matter with Trump several times, and that the US president told him: "Okay, you know what, Netanyahu? Go ahead and prepare," but he made no commitment to carry out the operation. The official added that the phrase "go ahead and prepare" could mean carrying out the operation now, later, or not at all. Netanyahu based his proposal on what he described as troubling Iranian developments in the nuclear field, including steps to reactivate various components of Iran's nuclear program. On the other hand, Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi warned security chiefs that a possible Iranian missile response could lead to postponing the elections and eroding public trust in the army.
