Mother-in-law of Kfar Saba mayor's version on seized cash: "Saves every shekel, she has no teeth"

The mother of the wife of Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Saar, arrested on suspicion of corruption, claims through her attorney that most of the cash seized at her home originated from compensation of about 150,000 shekels as a victim of hostile actions. The attorney describes her as a hard-luck woman who has been saving for 20 years, and argues her arrest was meant to pressure her daughter and son-in-law.

The corruption affair in the Kfar Saba municipality: The mother of the mayor's wife, Rafi Saar, was arrested on suspicion of holding funds of unknown origin. Through her attorney, Adv. Afriat, she claims that most of the cash seized at her home — about 150,000 shekels — came from compensation she received from the state as a victim of hostile actions about three months ago. According to him, the money was deposited in her account and withdrawn in cash. The remaining funds, he argues, are personal savings from housekeeping jobs accumulated over 20 years. The attorney describes her as an elderly, hard-luck woman, "without teeth, living hand to mouth," and emphasizes that her arrest was meant to pressure her daughter and son-in-law, who are also detained in the affair. He rejects claims of obstruction of proceedings, since all involved are in custody. The court extended her remand by three days.
