Posted a comment against Mansour Abbas - and was arrested on suspicion of incitement to violence

A 49-year-old resident of Qalansawe was arrested on suspicion of incitement to violence against Ra'am party chairman, MK Mansour Abbas, following a comment he posted on social media. The police arrested the suspect, Ashraf Abu Ali, and he was brought to court, where his detention was extended until Wednesday. The case joins another incident of a summons for questioning over incitement against the Knesset speaker.

A 49-year-old resident of Qalansawe, Ashraf Abu Ali, was arrested yesterday (Sunday) on suspicion of incitement to violence against Ra'am party chairman, MK Mansour Abbas. The arrest was carried out following a comment the suspect posted on social media, which led to a police complaint. On Thursday, approval was received to investigate the case, and officers from the Tayibe police station located and arrested Abu Ali. He was transferred for questioning, and afterward brought to court, where the police requested an extension of his detention. The court granted the request and extended his detention until Wednesday, September 16. The case joins another incident that occurred earlier this month, when a 27-year-old Tel Aviv resident was summoned for questioning on suspicion of incitement to violence against Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. That suspect responded to a post by Ohana and wrote that "all 64 should be worthy of death in every respect." Both cases indicate increased enforcement of incitement offenses on social media against public figures.
