IDF kills five Hamas terrorists, among them military commander, in Gaza counterterrorism operation

The IDF and Shin Bet killed five Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Monday, including a senior commander from the terror group's military wing. The commander, Ahmed al-Batech Abu Osama of Hamas's Gaza City Brigade, was killed in an overnight strike on his vehicle, according to an N12 report. Additional strikes targeted a terrorist hiding in a tent in Khan Yunis, as well as locations in Deir al-Balah, Daraj al-Tuffah, and near Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, where the IDF had operated on a weapons storage facility last week. All strikes were directed by Shin Bet and Military Intelligence Directorate intelligence. The IDF and Shin Bet have intensified counterterrorism operations in recent weeks, targeting Hamas officials involved in rebuilding the group's military capabilities. The Shin Bet's Nili unit, established after the October 7 massacre, continues locating and killing terrorists who participated in the attack. The Air Force has struck around 20 weapons storage facilities, workshops, and laboratories in the past two weeks.
