Police stop searching for attacker of blind man who didn't pick up guide dog's waste: 'He kicked and hit me'
Police have closed the investigation into an unknown assailant who attacked a blind man in Holon after he failed to pick up his guide dog's waste. The victim, Kochavi Rafael Kochav, claims he was beaten, kicked, and had feces thrown at him, and that police did not do enough to locate the attacker. Police stated that investigative measures were exhausted and the case will be reviewed if new information emerges.
Nearly two months after Kochavi Rafael Kochav, a blind man from Holon, was attacked in a garden near his home for not picking up his guide dog's waste, police closed the investigation without locating the suspect. Kochav described how the attacker approached him from behind, demanded he pick up the feces, and despite his explanation that he was blind, called him a liar, beat him all over his body, threw dog feces at him, and kicked him. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 15, in Gan Ha'Amitsim in Holon. Kochav screamed for help but no one came to his aid. He harshly criticized the police, claiming they did not publish the attacker's photo to the media and did not search for him properly, unlike their handling of vandalism cases. Police responded that various investigative actions were taken, including gathering testimonies and digital evidence, but after exhausting all measures, investigators could not trace the suspect's identity, and the case was closed for now, with a promise to review it if new information arises. Kochav said he has been living in fear since the attack and is afraid to walk the streets.
