A police officer with the rank of Chief Superintendent from the Coastal District was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his wife, who suffers from a vision impairment. The officer denies the allegations and claims it was only a verbal argument. His attorney, Shadi Hassan, argued in court that the officer was actually the one attacked by his wife, who threw objects at him, spat, and threatened him. Judge Nir Mishori Lev Tov ruled that there is a high-level reasonable suspicion and extended his remand by four days due to concerns of obstruction of justice and risk to the complainant. Associates of the officer claim the argument stemmed from his intention to divorce, and that the complaint was filed as a result. The investigation is ongoing.
