An official request has been submitted to investigate Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, after he was accused of contacting Americans without the Supreme Leader's approval. The request was submitted today (Tuesday) to the Iranian parliament's presidium, which could impeach him if found guilty. The investigation will include allegations of crossing red lines in negotiations, political miscalculations, and criticism of managing relations with the United States. It was also stated that the investigation will address the Foreign Ministry's performance in economic diplomacy, the method of rotation and selection of some ambassadors, and the failure to present new initiatives in foreign policy. Araghchi is considered close to the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and was appointed by him to manage talks with the US. Since the rise of Khamenei's son to power, there have been disputes between the Foreign Minister and the Revolutionary Guards regarding negotiations. It is possible that this is a way to "remove" the minister from the talks.
