Not just studies: The new village that aims to keep doctors in the Galilee

A first-of-its-kind student village for medical students will be inaugurated at Kibbutz Amiad, featuring 27 housing units, community life, and a short distance from the faculty. The goal: to connect students to the Galilee even after graduation and encourage integration into the healthcare system in the north.

A first-of-its-kind student village for medical students will be inaugurated at Kibbutz Amiad in the Galilee. The village includes 27 housing units, and residents will be able to use the kibbutz's facilities, including a swimming pool, pub, dining hall, and sports fields. Students are expected to integrate into the local community and dedicate time to community activities in Amiad and medical frameworks in the area. The village is located about a quarter-hour drive from the medical faculty and is also accessible by public transportation. Its official inauguration is planned for October 6. Shinberg, who is responsible for the project, said that assistance to students includes finding employment for spouses, scholarships for moving north, connecting with parents and educational institutions, and connecting to cultural and leisure life in the Galilee. The faculty is already examining the establishment of additional villages in other places in the Galilee. According to the quoted source, the more significant the connection between students and the region during their studies, the greater the chance that faculty graduates will choose to integrate into the healthcare system in the north.
