"Nationalist crime that can very quickly turn into a terrorist act": the warning of the senior security official

A senior security official warns of an escalation in nationalist crime in Judea and Samaria, with a decrease in the number of incidents but an increase in their severity. According to him, the approval of isolated farms and new settlements creates a "sense of victory" among hilltop youth, which translates into violence. Security agencies are joining forces and warning that if the situation deteriorates, tools will be expanded.

A senior security official told Walla that nationalist crime in Judea and Samaria could turn into a terrorist act if a clear red line is not marked. According to him, there has been a decrease in the number of incidents but a sharp increase in their severity. The official linked the escalation to the approval of isolated farms and new settlements in the last two years, which creates a "sense of victory" among hilltop youth and encourages violence and the establishment of illegal outposts. He described youth with a consolidated ideology, consuming internet and news, and acting out of deep distrust of the system and the state. Security agencies, including Central Command, police, and Shin Bet, are joining forces through educational projects, new tools, and evidence collection. The official emphasized that no administrative detention orders are being used, but there is a possibility to expand tools such as restraining orders and house arrests if the situation deteriorates.
