Two other men were moderately wounded. Police are investigating on the grounds of a family feud.
Muhammad Ashraf Shuiki, a 24-year-old resident of the Abu Tor neighborhood in East Jerusalem, was shot dead last night (Wednesday). According to eyewitnesses, four masked individuals opened fire on several people in the neighborhood. Shuiki was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead hours later. Two other men, aged 38 and another whose age was not specified, were moderately wounded with penetrating injuries. Police arrived at the scene, collected evidence, and launched a search for suspects. The motive for the murder is likely a conflict that began years ago; preliminary investigation suggests a family feud. Residents said it was fortunate there were no additional casualties: "They shot at people and luckily didn't kill more. The atmosphere is very tense, and if it doesn't calm down, the consequences will be severe." Since the start of the year, 180 people have been murdered in Arab society. Two days ago, Nimr Jabarin, a young man about 20, was shot dead in Umm al-Fahm, and the day before, a resident of Segev Shalom, about 20, was murdered in the Negev over a land dispute.
