Collapse of Mamdani among Jewish voters in New York: 64% hold a negative opinion of him
A Siena College poll presented on CNN reveals that 64% of Jewish voters in New York hold a negative opinion of Mayor Zohran Mamdani, compared to 33% positive. The data indicates a dramatic erosion in traditional Democratic support among the state's Jews, with the gubernatorial race advantage plummeting from 51 points to just 13 points within four years.
A Siena College poll, presented on CNN, reveals deep alienation between New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the Jewish public in the state. According to the poll, 64% of Jewish voters in New York hold a negative opinion of Mamdani, compared to only 33% who hold a positive view. The gap is particularly striking compared to the general public, where Mamdani enjoys 46% positive support versus 44% negative. CNN data analyst Harry Enten noted that Mamdani has a net negative approval rating of 23 points among Jews, compared to a positive net rating of eight points among all voters—a gap of 31 points. Enten linked the data to Mamdani's positions on Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu. The poll also indicates a broad erosion of Jewish support for Democrats: Governor Hochul's advantage dropped from 51 points in 2022 to just 13 points. In the Siena poll, Republican candidate Bruce Blakeman even led among Jews by three points. In the House race, the Democratic advantage fell from 49 points to 13. Enten emphasized that the data cannot determine how much of the change is attributable to Mamdani himself.
