In an interview with Ben Caspit and Yinon Magal on 103FM, Shikli also called for disqualifying Balad, claiming that "the Supreme Court will put an end to this brothel" of support for terrorism. Shikli explained why he retracted the openness he had previously expressed towards Mansour Abbas and Ra'am, and admitted: "I was mistaken. He knew how to play on our hope for change in Israeli society, but in the end he is an Islamist to the bone." Shikli noted that during Operation Guardian of the Walls he thought Abbas was abandoning Palestinian nationalism, but he voted against a government with Ra'am. These remarks come against the backdrop of the attack in which Shokron was murdered.
