Moscow threatens Britain: Military facilities could become targets

Russia has threatened that British military facilities could become targets for attack, against the backdrop of London's military support for Ukraine. The threat was conveyed in an official protest to the British Embassy in Moscow, following the increase in British arms shipments to Kyiv, including cruise missiles and drones. The Russian Foreign Ministry accused London of complicity in Ukraine's "atrocities."

Russia threatened on Friday that British military facilities could become targets for attack, against the backdrop of London's continued military support for Ukraine. According to a report in the British "Times," the warning pertains to British facilities in Ukraine and even beyond, if they are used to carry out attacks against Russian territory. The threat was conveyed as part of an official protest that Moscow submitted to the charge d'affaires of the British Embassy in Russia, Deana Dolakia. The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned her for a conversation following what it described as a "further increase" in British arms shipments to Kyiv. In the Moscow Foreign Ministry's statement, it was claimed that by transferring additional weapons to Ukraine, "London is placing itself in a position of a partner in the bloody atrocities of the Kyiv regime, which can only be defined as terrorism and war crimes." Russia placed responsibility on Britain for possible escalation and warned of the consequences of using British weapons in attacks within its territory. According to "The Times," the protest pertains, among other things, to the transfer of British missiles and drones to Ukraine. Moscow has previously been particularly angered by the use of British-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles to attack targets in Russia. The development comes after Britain announced the allocation of an additional £100 million to strengthen Ukraine's air defense systems. Britain reiterated that it will continue to stand by Ukraine. Relations between London and Moscow are at a deep low, and Russia currently has no serving ambassador in Britain.
