More than 200 km and two hours in the air: Israeli weaponry amazed Germany

Israel and Germany are deepening their defense cooperation. Elbit Systems and Diehl Defense demonstrated the "Sharkark" (SkyStriker) loitering munition with a range of over 200 km and a flight time of more than two hours. The demonstration included launch, reconnaissance, and a successful strike on a simulated target, integrated with the SkyLark 1 eVTOL reconnaissance drone. The partnership aims to address the growing demand in Germany for autonomous systems, and subject to winning tenders, to establish a local production line.

Israel and Germany are deepening their defense cooperation amid growing demand in Europe for autonomous systems. Israeli company Elbit Systems, in partnership with German Diehl Defense, demonstrated the "Sharkark" (SkyStriker) loitering munition – a new-generation electrically powered unmanned aerial vehicle. The live demonstration included launch from a container, reconnaissance and surveillance, followed by a successful strike on a simulated target. The system was integrated with the SkyLark 1 eVTOL reconnaissance drone, demonstrating the ability to integrate into complex intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) networks. Key advantages highlighted: a range of over 200 km, flight time of more than two hours, low acoustic and thermal signature making detection difficult, and launch capability from various platforms – ground vehicles, containers, aircraft, and Euro-Pulse launchers. The cooperation aims to address the growing demand in Germany, and subject to winning relevant programs, to establish manufacturing, assembly, integration, and certification capabilities in Germany itself.
