Millions of cars at risk — popular brand announces massive recall

Volkswagen Group has announced a massive global recall of at least 4 million vehicles produced between 2013 and 2024. The reason is potential corrosion of a bolt in the steering system, which could lead to loosening and dangerous play, affecting vehicle control. The problem mainly manifests in harsh winter conditions on roads treated with salt. The recall affects not only Volkswagen vehicles but also subsidiary brands: Audi, Skoda, and Seat. The breakdown includes approximately 2.16 million Volkswagens (models Golf, Tiguan, Touran, Caddy), about one million Skodas (including Octavia), roughly 700,000 Audis (including Q3), and about 200,000 Seats (including Ateca). The campaign cost for the group is estimated at 200–450 million euros. It is not yet reported how the recall will affect the Israeli market. According to Israeli law, a driver who receives a recall notice must complete the repair at the importer's service center within six months. A vehicle that does not undergo repair on time will not be able to pass the annual technical inspection (test).
