A 45-year-old man suffered cardiac arrest on a street in Jerusalem and his life was saved thanks to an MDA medic who worked in a nearby store. The medic, Chaim Rabinowitz, left the store after seeing people asking for help, and found the man lying unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing. He immediately began basic CPR. MDA paramedic Naftali Chaim Sofer and motorcycle unit medic Yaakov Grunwald arrived at the scene and continued treatment, which included chest compressions, ventilations, and electric shocks. After the first shock, the man regained full consciousness, and was later evacuated in a mobile intensive care unit to Hadassah Har HaTzofim Hospital in good condition. Rabinowitz said: "Being near such an event and realizing within moments that you saved a life and prevented a tragedy for an entire family is moving, and that is the reason we volunteer for MDA."
