The meeting took place at Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan and dealt with the wars in Iran and Ukraine. Macron posted on his X account that they decided to work together to reduce tensions in energy markets by protecting critical infrastructure in the Middle East and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He added that they would join forces to ensure a moratorium on attacks against energy and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. The French president emphasized the need to protect civilian populations and open serious negotiations on the terms of peace between Russia and Ukraine. After the meeting, Macron told reporters that the conversation was "very good" and "constructive," and that there is a need to help Ukraine quickly and strongly with interceptors. The two leaders are expected to speak today at the UN General Assembly.
