Fears are growing in Lebanon of an expanding confrontation with Israel, amid official warnings against being dragged into a new war. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, in remarks delivered from Baabda Palace, warned against dragging Lebanon again into what he described as a "futile adventure," a stance that carried a clear message to Hezbollah regarding the repercussions of any new involvement in a potential war. On the ground, the Israeli army continued to escalate its attacks on southern Lebanon, launching two raids on the town of Tallousa in the Marjeyoun district, targeting the outskirts of the town of Markaba in the same district, along with a raid on the town of Aita al-Jabal (al-Zatt) in the Bint Jbeil district. Israeli raids also hit the town of Kafr Tibnit in the Nabatieh district, while the towns of Mansouri in the Tyre district, and Mayfadoun and Zawtar al-Sharqiya in the Nabatieh district, were subjected to Israeli artillery shelling. These attacks coincided with intense low-altitude flights by Israeli warplanes over southern Lebanon and its region.
