Direct flights between Tel Aviv and Marrakech have resumed this summer, marking a recovery in Israeli tourism to Morocco after a suspension that began on October 7, 2023. Arkia operated the first direct flight in August, and three weekly flights are now operated by Israeli airlines. An estimated 20,000 Israelis are expected to visit Morocco by the end of 2026, with initial demand suggesting a potential return to pre-war levels of approximately 100,000 annual visitors. The current volume is limited by the number of flights. Moroccan-Israeli tour guide Uri Attias, who leads tours with Eco Outdoor Tours at the Issta Sport Group, told N12 that the resumption is personal for him, as he was born to Moroccan parents and has guided in Morocco for over 30 years. Attias described the Moroccan tourism industry as having adapted to Israeli visitors before the war, and that the closure of direct flights dealt a tough blow to many business owners. He stated that businesses are waiting for Israeli tourists, calling them their 'source of oxygen.' Attias is returning to Morocco with a group in April 2027.
