The conference will be attended by ministers, ambassadors, and the chairman of the Jewish Agency.
The "Habayta – Connection is the Whole Story" organization, one of the leading organizations in Israel in the field of aliyah absorption and community activity, will present "Israel Hayom" with an honorary award for its contribution to encouraging aliyah. The award will be presented at the organization's annual immigrant conference, "Absorbing the Next Million," to be held on Wednesday, October 8, at Cinema City in Jerusalem. The award is given to the newspaper, among other things, for the "The 11th Million" project, launched on the eve of Rosh Hashanah 5786. As part of the project, "Israel Hayom" sought to awaken the public to understand the gravity of the moment and call on the government to formulate a national plan in the areas of housing, employment, education, and infrastructure, which would enable the aliyah and absorption of one million Jews, many of whom live under growing anti-Semitism in communities such as France, Britain, Canada, Australia, and Russia. Throughout the year, in-depth articles and special projects were published in the newspaper and on the website, aimed at placing the issue of aliyah at the center of public and political discourse. The conference will address how Israel is preparing to absorb hundreds of thousands of new immigrants, and the challenges of absorbing aliyah on a large scale. Near the three-year mark since the October 7 massacre, discussions will also be dedicated to the connection between aliyah and the crises Israel has undergone. According to Central Bureau of Statistics data, about 3.5 million immigrants have arrived in Israel since the state's establishment. The conference will be held in five parallel sessions, in Hebrew, English, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. Among the participants: Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar, Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, and Argentine Ambassador to Israel Axel Wahnish. The Hebrew session will conclude with a panel featuring Jewish Agency Chairman Doron Almog, Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer, KKL-JNF Chairman Yael Ostinsky, and Habayta organization co-CEO Netanel Rotenberg. The "Habayta" organization operates as a national network of communities in over 45 localities, accompanying about 100,000 immigrants in five languages.
