The road to Tel Aviv will become shorter: a new parking complex opens in Rishon LeZion

On October 4, a new transport complex opens in Rishon LeZion with parking for 3,500 cars, 350 charging stations, and 500 bicycle parking spots. Four free electric shuttles will take passengers to business districts in Tel Aviv via a dedicated lane. The downside is the lack of connection to the railway and buses.

On Sunday, October 4, a new transport complex opens in Rishon LeZion near the Mevo Ayalon interchange, adjacent to the fast lane on the northern section of the Ayalon Highway. The complex includes parking for 3,500 private cars, 350 electric vehicle charging stations, and 500 bicycle parking spots. Four free electric shuttles will operate from the complex on four routes: to the Kirya, Sarona, and Azrieli areas; to the Diamond Exchange and Savidor Station; to Begin and HaMasger streets; and to Yigal Alon Street. The shuttles will run Sunday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 10:45 PM, every five minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes at other times. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance, and the company Netivei Ayalon. A significant drawback is the lack of connection to the railway or bus routes, so only those arriving by car or bicycle can use the service. Appeals have been sent to the National Public Transport Authority requesting feeder routes, but no progress has been made. The first phase of the project, costing about 8 billion shekels, was launched in April in Shfaim; the northern complex now serves about 10,000 passengers daily. It is expected that in the first quarter of 2027, the fast lanes will open to private cars with a dynamic fee ranging from 7 to 105 shekels.
