A festive ceremony marked the establishment of the new settlement 'Rom Gilboa' in northern Samaria, on the site from which gunfire was directed at Kibbutz Meirav. A festive ceremony marked the establishment of the new settlement 'Rom Gilboa' in northern Samaria, on the site from which gunfire was directed at Kibbutz Meirav. This is the 11th settlement established in the area in less than a year, and the third this week. The first families moved into their homes in the settlement, located near Malkishua and Kibbutz Meirav. The establishment of the settlement is presented as a Zionist response to terrorism, as part of the Samaria Council's 'Connection Plan' to establish 19 new settlements. The ceremony was attended by Minister Amichai Shikli and Council head Yossi Dagan. Shikli called the move a 'settlement revolution', and Dagan declared that 'there will be a huge city here that will connect Samaria, the Springs Valley, Gilboa, and the Galilee'. Representatives of kibbutzim in the Springs Valley expressed support for the new settlers.
