A month of concerns ends with concrete pouring: the shafts in Qalqilya sealed

The IDF sealed two shafts in Qalqilya this morning by pouring concrete, a month after their discovery. The IDF clarifies that no tunnels or routes leading to the seam zone were found. Weapons and ammunition were located at the site, and four suspects were arrested.

A month after the discovery of two shafts in Qalqilya, the IDF sealed them this morning (Thursday) by pouring concrete. The IDF clarifies that after investigating the shafts, it was determined that they were two shafts with an entrance opening but no exit opening, and the presence of a tunnel route or proximity to the seam zone was ruled out. The shafts were exposed during a proactive operation by the Samaria Crime Fighting Unit (YLF), in cooperation with the IDF and the Judea and Samaria Border Police. Weapons, ammunition, and fertilizers that according to the police could be used to assemble explosive devices were located at the site. During the operation, four suspects were arrested: two residents of Qalqilya were transferred for further handling under military law, and two others, Israeli Arabs from Jaljulia, were brought to the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court, which extended their remand by six days. Deputy Commander Tzachi Ben Hemo stated that the operation was launched following focused intelligence information. The shafts previously caused panic in the Sharon region, after weapons and ammunition were found at the site.
