According to the investigation, on the day of the incident the suspect attacked the pilot with an emergency axe inside the cockpit. A pilot who was supposed to operate the return flight noticed unusual activity at the cockpit door, approached the location and managed to enter using the security code. He intervened in the attack with the assistance of a flight crew member and several passengers, rescued the wounded pilot and subdued the suspect. In addition, Abu Mazen announced the cancellation of the Palestinian parliamentary elections on their original date, which were planned to be held this coming November, and are now expected to take place in September 2027. According to the Palestinian "Quds" network, there are disagreements in the Fatah leadership around the recommendation to postpone the elections.
