In Lebanon they attack Avichay Adraee: "Without uniform and without accountability"
The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, identified with Hezbollah, sharply attacked the hosting of former IDF Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee on the Saudi channel Al-Arabiya. The paper claimed Adraee received a comfortable platform to present the Israeli position without significant confrontation, and called him "one of the most prominent faces of the Israeli military propaganda machine." The storm comes after Adraee joined Channel 12 as a commentator.
The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, identified with Hezbollah, published a sharp attack against Avichay Adraee, former IDF Arabic-language spokesman, following an interview he gave to the Saudi channel Al-Arabiya. The paper chose a blunt headline: "Avichay as Al-Arabiya's guest: without uniform and without accountability." In the article Adraee was called "one of the most prominent faces of the Israeli military propaganda machine" and it was claimed he received a comfortable platform to present the Israeli position without sufficient confrontation from the interviewer. The paper also attacked Adraee's remarks that Israel does not intentionally harm children and civilians, and noted that during the interview he smiled at the nickname "Sheikh Adraee" attached to him due to his use of Arabic and quotes from the Quran. The storm comes days after Lebanese media reported extensively on Adraee's new role as a commentator on Channel 12. The Lebanese site Lebanos described him as someone many Lebanese previously called "the owl," due to his appearances on social networks where he published evacuation warnings and maps of buildings designated for attack. The publication shows that even after he took off the uniform, Adraee remains a well-known and controversial figure in Lebanon, where his name is identified with the evacuation warnings that preceded Israeli strikes during recent wars.
