In an attempt to expand the fighting? "Iran carried out cyber attacks against gas and oil tankers"
The Wall Street Journal reported that the US is investigating suspicions that Iran carried out a cyber attack against two oil and gas tankers on their way to the US. The concern: Iran is expanding the conflict.
The Wall Street Journal reported this morning (Wednesday) that the United States is investigating suspicions that Iran carried out a cyber attack against at least two oil and gas tankers. According to the report, the incident occurred last month, while the tankers were crossing the Strait of Gibraltar on their way to the United States. A special investigation team led by the US Coast Guard, including FBI agents, boarded the tankers at the end of August upon their arrival in the Gulf of Mexico, to check the integrity of their operational and information systems, amid indications of a breach of their networks. The location of the attack and the fact that it is a cyber incident raise concerns that Iran has begun to expand the conflict in the Middle East to additional areas. In addition, American officials revealed new details about the Iranian missile attack on Jordan last week, during which the US military launched at least 70 advanced air defense interceptors, including THAAD interceptors. An American official said the scale of ammunition use is similar to the amount the Americans use during an entire week of combat.
