Ex-IDF spokesperson soldier becomes new spokesperson for Breaking the Silence

Ayelet Kreuzer, a recently discharged soldier from the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, announced on social media that she is the new spokesperson for the NGO Breaking the Silence, criticizing the IDF's information management.

Ayelet Kroizer, a released soldier from the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, sparked a storm on X (formerly Twitter) after announcing her new role as the spokesperson for Breaking the Silence, about six months after her release from regular service. In her post, Kroizer, a former Haredi, wrote that she enlisted to defend the country, but during her service she was exposed "not only to the reality in the West Bank and Gaza, but also to how the IDF chooses to present it to the public." She claimed that the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has great control over shaping the picture of reality, and that the goal of the work was defined as strengthening public trust, while the public's right to know was secondary. She further claimed that she "played" with the details released to the media, and that the word "terrorist" is attached even to innocent Palestinians. "I learned how to phrase dozens of dead in one attack and automatically add that we regret any harm to uninvolved civilians," she wrote.
