A 40-year-old woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, has been charged with first-degree murder after her 10-year-old son shot their 16-year-old neighbor to death during an argument over loud music. According to police, the mother, Alaina Gomez-Wilde, approached the neighbor's apartment on Saturday and asked them to turn down the music. After being refused, the confrontation turned physical, and the mother asked her son to bring her gun. The child fired a single shot that struck the girl, Kinerlyne Rangel, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Gomez-Wilde was arrested on Sunday and is being held without bail. She is also charged with child abuse, conspiracy, assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and receiving stolen property. After the shooting, she fired a warning shot at the girl's father who tried to enter her apartment, and later was seen with a weapon facing officers, one of whom fired at her but missed. Her 10-year-old son has not been publicly identified, and the district attorney is considering whether to file charges against him.
