Ahead of the third anniversary of the events of October 7, the international service Gallup published poll results showing the attitudes of Israelis and Palestinian Arabs toward the prospects of resolving the conflict through the creation of two independent states. According to the data, only 26% of Israelis and 32% of Palestinian Arabs living in the territories and East Jerusalem support the idea of two states coexisting. The majority of respondents oppose it: 65% in Israel and 58% in the Palestinian Authority. Due to the fighting, the poll was not conducted in the Gaza Strip. In Israeli society, support for the peace plan is linked to attitudes toward the government: among those who approve of government policy, 5% support the idea, while among those who are opposition-minded, it is 43%. Among Palestinians, this divide is less pronounced. Only 22% of Israelis and 21% of Palestinians believe in lasting peace. In 2012, supporters of two states were roughly twice as many.
