Hours alone in the forest: screams heard by youths near Jerusalem led to dramatic rescue

A man trapped under a tree in a forest near Mevaseret Zion was rescued by police after many hours. Youths passing by heard cries for help and alerted the police. The man apparently slipped while trying to find access to his vehicle. He was at the scene from the afternoon hours until early morning and was evacuated for medical examination.

Police rescued a man last night (between Saturday and Sunday) who was trapped under a tree in the forest in the Nativ HaPortzim area of Mevaseret Zion, near Jerusalem. The dramatic rescue began after several youths passing by heard cries for help and alerted the police. Officers from the Harel station in the Jerusalem district arrived at the scene and began extensive searches, during which the person was located trapped under a tree within the forest area. A preliminary police investigation indicated that the citizen was walking on a path to check access to his vehicle, but slipped and fell into the forest area. He remained at the scene for many hours, from the afternoon hours until his location in the early morning by the officers. The officers safely rescued him, and he was transferred for further treatment and medical examination.
