Starting September 22, 2026, a new ban takes effect in the Netherlands on the entry of products originating from Israeli settlements in territories defined by decree. The ban applies not only to commercial imports but also to products that passengers bring in their personal luggage, including souvenirs, gifts, and items for personal use. Products purchased before the ban took effect are not exempt. The ban also applies even if the passenger arrives in the Netherlands via another EU country. Dutch customs directs passengers to a list of EU postal codes to check if a specific location is included in the areas subject to the ban. In case of an inspection, customs may confiscate products and file a report, and further handling may be transferred to prosecution authorities. Intentional violation of the ban may lead to criminal proceedings and a penalty of a fine and up to six years in prison. The ban does not apply to products originating from Israel within the 1967 borders.
