An indictment was filed against a 27-year-old man from Netanya for stealing an M4 rifle from the Navy SEAL base in Atlit and brokering the sale of weapons. According to the indictment, the soldier removed three loaded assault rifles from the base, the defendant took one of them and fled, threw it into a trash can, and later brokered a deal to transfer the rifles on the promenade in Netanya.

An indictment was filed today (Sunday) against a 27-year-old man from Netanya, accused of stealing one of the three M4 rifles taken from the Navy SEAL base in Atlit, and of brokering a deal to sell the weapons. According to the indictment, after the soldier removed three assault rifles from the base, each loaded with a magazine of 29 bullets, he arrived with them early in the morning at a convenience store on Independence Street in Netanya. When the soldier moved away from the car, the defendant took one of the rifles from the trunk and fled. The soldier chased him, and during the chase the defendant threw the weapon into a trash can. When the soldier caught up with him, he retrieved the rifle from the trash can, apologized, and said he would arrange a buyer for the weapons. Subsequently, the defendant brokered between the soldier and another person, and the three drove to a meeting point on the promenade in Netanya. There, in the presence of the defendant, one of the rifles was transferred to a Mercedes wrapped in a blanket, and the other two rifles and four additional magazines were transferred in a kit bag to the vehicle.
