Tragedy in Florida: Steven Hamilton, a 71-year-old fisherman, was killed last Friday after being attacked by a giant alligator nearly four meters long. The incident occurred at Lake Apopka, seconds after Hamilton proudly posed with a bass he had caught. A witness recounted how the alligator lunged from the water, grabbed Hamilton's leg, and pulled him in. According to the pathologist's report, Hamilton's death was caused by drowning, after sustaining severe injuries to his left leg. His body was found in the water about two hours after the attack. Teams from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission captured and euthanized the attacking alligator. Authorities noted that this is the second fatal alligator attack in the state this year, with an estimated over 4,600 alligators living in Lake Apopka alone. The previous case this year occurred in June, when 31-year-old Brittany Clark was killed by an alligator while swimming in a river in central Florida.
