Israel getting entangled with Erdogan? US clarifies: "They are too smart for a front against Turkey"

The US ambassador to Turkey warns that an Israeli airstrike in Syria nearly sparked a direct confrontation with Ankara, revealing that even Washington was not notified in advance. According to him, Israel and Turkey do not want war, but the US may need to intervene.

US Ambassador to Turkey, Tom Barak, warns that an Israeli airstrike carried out on August 18 at the Abu al-Duhur airbase in Syria, near the Turkish border, nearly sparked a direct confrontation between Israel and Turkey. In an interview, Barak revealed that neither Turkey nor the US were notified in advance of the strike, and that Turkey could have scrambled jets quickly, leading to a completely different situation. He stated that it is time to stop Israeli activity in Syria and questioned whether it is time for the US to intervene to stop it. Regarding Yemen and Iran, Barak cast doubt on the effectiveness of military force and warned against a futile US ground intervention. He described the American message as a "reassessment" rather than an abandonment of the Middle East.
