Government Media Office: Occupation Incitement Paves Way for Targeting Gaza Hospitals and New Massacres
Ismail al-Thawabta, Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, warned of an escalation in the Israeli incitement campaign against hospitals, considering it a prelude to targeting them and committing new massacres against patients, medical staff, and displaced persons. He held the occupation and its supporting countries fully responsible for the safety of thousands of patients and called on the international community to intervene.
Ismail al-Thawabta, Director General of the Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip, warned of an escalation in the Israeli incitement campaign against hospitals and health centers in the Strip, considering it a prelude to targeting them and committing new massacres against patients, wounded, medical staff, and displaced persons. Al-Thawabta said in statements to "Al-Araby Al-Jadeed" that the rhetoric of occupation leaders and its army against health institutions is witnessing continuous escalation, warning against using Israeli claims about employing hospitals for military purposes as a cover to justify targeting them. He stressed that hospitals and medical centers in Gaza are civilian facilities providing medical and humanitarian services, emphasizing that targeting them constitutes a violation of the protection afforded by international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions to medical facilities, their workers, patients, and the wounded. Al-Thawabta held the Israeli occupation and its supporting countries fully responsible for the safety of thousands of patients and medical staff, warning of the catastrophic repercussions of any new attack on the health system, which suffers extensive damage and a severe shortage of capabilities and basic needs. He called on the international community, the World Health Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to urgently intervene to protect hospitals and health centers, demanding an international presence within these facilities and guarantees to prevent the implementation of Israeli threats.
