Google has announced the Fitbit Edge fitness tracker, introducing a significant innovation to the market: a modular design that allows for physical replacement of the internal battery at the end of its life, contrary to the planned obsolescence trend common in the industry. The device features a 1.34-inch AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, an ECG sensor, a skin temperature sensor, and automatic recognition of over 100 sports. Battery life is up to 7 days under normal use. The device does not include NFC, a microphone, or a speaker, and does not run Wear OS. Pre-orders have begun, and the device will hit US shelves on October 27 at a price of $179.99. A special edition in collaboration with Stephen Curry will be offered for $219.99.
