Ginger against diabetes: how many grams to take

A study involving 88 volunteers with type 2 diabetes found that taking 3 grams of dry ginger powder daily for 8 weeks significantly reduces fasting blood sugar levels. The anti-inflammatory properties of ginger for treating gastrointestinal issues are also described.

Researchers tested the effect of ginger on the bodies of diabetics. The experiment involved 88 volunteers who had been suffering from type 2 diabetes for more than ten years. Participants were divided into groups: one group received 3 grams of dry ginger powder in capsules daily, while the other received a placebo. After 8 weeks, fasting blood sugar levels in the first group significantly decreased, whereas in the control group, levels rose. The active compounds in ginger activate liver enzymes responsible for glucose breakdown. Additionally, scientists from Atlanta and Georgia State University found that nanoparticles from ginger root can curb chronic inflammation and accelerate the regeneration of the intestinal lining, helping with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease without side effects. The effectiveness is attributed to its composition: lipids, phosphatidic acid, and the antioxidants gingerol and shogaol.
