"Gift" to content thieves: KSP planted an ad for itself on competitors' sites

KSP identified that competing websites were using its servers without permission, and replaced product images on those sites with an advertisement for KSP. Simultaneously, the company filed a lawsuit for 700,000 shekels against Lior Electrical Products for copyright infringement.

Retailer KSP took an unusual step against competing websites that used its servers without permission. The company identified overloads on its servers, and an investigation revealed that leading sites, including Lior Electrical Products, Bag, Makhsanei Hashmal, Shekem Electric, Hi-Tech Zone, Walla Shops, and BDK, were pulling content and images from KSP's servers. In response, KSP's IT department ordered the replacement of product images on the unauthorized sites with an advertisement for KSP bearing the caption: 'We also choose to buy only at KSP.' Simultaneously, the company filed a lawsuit for 700,000 shekels against Lior Electrical Products at the Haifa District Court, through attorney Asaf Ron, alleging copyright infringement and unjust enrichment. KSP claims significant investment in professional translations and content, while competitors save costs at its expense. Bag responded that this involves about 32 products out of tens of thousands, and that the images and texts were received from the importer.
