Citizens participated in a mass vigil in Gaza City, in solidarity with activists of the "Steadfast Fleet" detained in Tunisian prisons. The vigil was called by popular committees and the "Global Steadfast Fleet" reception committee on Friday at the Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City, demanding the immediate release of the fleet and aid convoy detainees held by Tunisian authorities. Participants raised pictures of the four detainees: Ghassan Al-Hanshiri, Ghassan Al-Boughdiri, Nabil Al-Shanoufi, and Wael Nawar, alongside Palestinian and Tunisian flags. They expressed grave concern over the deterioration of their health due to an open-ended hunger strike inside detention prisons. Noura Saad, spokesperson for the committee for events welcoming the Global Steadfast Fleet, said the vigil aims to highlight the suffering of the activists who came to support Gaza and break its siege. Youssef Al-Zaalan emphasized the deep relationship between the Palestinian and Tunisian peoples. Mohammed Al-Kafarna urged official and human rights bodies in Tunisia to urgently respond to distress calls and release the detainees. The action coincides with the deteriorating health of the detained Tunisian activists due to their hunger strike protesting their arrest and imprisonment since March on politically motivated charges.
