Gaza Health Ministry: Depletion of generator oil threatens to halt life-saving medical departments
The Gaza Health Ministry announced the depletion of oil for operating hospital generators due to the Israeli siege, urgently requiring 2,500 liters monthly to prevent generator collapse, warning of the suspension of life-saving medical departments.
The Gaza Health Ministry announced on Wednesday the depletion of oil for operating hospital generators due to the Israeli siege, urgently requiring 2,500 liters monthly to prevent generator collapse and maintain remaining medical services. The ministry warned that the ongoing crisis threatens to halt life-saving medical departments, after announcing in September that 70% of hospital generators were out of service due to fuel, oil, and spare parts shortages caused by the Israeli siege. It stated that the depletion of oil means "immediate mechanical collapse and corrosion" for remaining generators operating under complex engineering conditions. Director General of Engineering and Maintenance at the Ministry, Mazen al-Arayshi, said in September that oil quantities allowed in were limited and insufficient for generator operation and maintenance, warning that delayed oil changes expose generators to mechanical failures that could lead to their shutdown.
