Danny Ayalon, former Israeli ambassador to the US, assesses that President Donald Trump assisted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the 2026 elections and will now demand a return. In an interview with 103FM, Ayalon said Trump will pressure Netanyahu to form a unity government, even to the point of a rotation with Gadi Eisenkot. According to him, Trump will tell Netanyahu: "Because of me, you won... now you must do A, B, C, D." Ayalon assessed that a strike on Iran could occur within two to three weeks if the Iranians continue their refusal to negotiate. He noted that Trump wants to close the Iranian file, prefers an agreement, but it seems the Iranians are "playing with him" and setting conditions. Ayalon added that the US midterm election results could affect the decision to launch a military campaign.
