Flip-flops, waffles and salmon: immigrant accused of series of thefts

Albert Goncharov, a 52-year-old immigrant, has been charged with 22 counts of theft from supermarkets in Tel Aviv. According to the indictment, he would study the store layout in advance, fill a cart with goods, and flee. The stolen items include 20 pairs of flip-flops, waffles, salmon, alcohol, and chocolate. The damage amounts to tens of thousands of shekels.

Tel Aviv police have filed charges against 52-year-old immigrant Albert Goncharov for 22 counts of theft from supermarkets and grocery stores. According to the indictment submitted to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, the man operated according to a pre-planned scheme: before each theft, he studied the store layout and assessed escape routes, then entered, filled a cart or large bags with goods, and quickly left the premises. Some of the thefts occurred at 24-hour AM:PM stores, particularly on Ibn Gvirol and Allenby streets. The range of stolen items is diverse: 20 pairs of flip-flops worth 1,428 shekels, large batches of waffles worth 872 and 2,336 shekels, fresh fruit, fish delicacies, alcohol, sausage products, dozens of chocolate bars, chargers, and pet food. The total value of the stolen goods amounts to tens of thousands of shekels. The series of thefts ended after the man was detained by officers of the 'Lev Tel Aviv' police station. Goncharov now faces court proceedings for all 22 counts.
