The plan emphasizes the development of public transportation, buses, trains, and dedicated lanes, based on the assumption that increased use of public transportation will reduce road users, traffic jams, and air pollution. Additionally, the Democrats promise to work for effective enforcement and infrastructure improvements, budgeting a five-year plan at the end of which the number of fatalities will be reduced by 50%. They also plan to establish bike paths, strengthen the traffic division, and improve coordination among all bodies involved in combating accidents, including the education system, the Ministry of Transportation, local authorities, and the police. Since the beginning of the year, more than 330 people have been killed on Israel's roads. Since 2023, road accidents have claimed the lives of more than 1,530 people, an average of about 1.2 fatalities per day over the last four years. Alongside the human cost, the direct economic damage to the economy stands at about 19 billion shekels per year, and indirect damage is estimated at about 40 billion shekels per year.
